Getting A Win On The Academic Field

Yesterday, a young client shared with me his extreme passion for lacrosse. He lit up talking about how he had been playing since he was four years old and how the sport continues to bring him much joy, confidence, freedom and connection to other people. And, what might surprise many of you, is that this is exactly the “end-game” for academic coaching. Academic coaching builds an alliance between a student and coach that enables them to discover all of the ways that they can find the SAME joy, confidence, freedom and connection when it comes to school and learning. What makes the comparison even more powerful is that, just like becoming proficient at a sport or hobby, true success comes from zeroing in on and practicing skills, developing a mindful game plan and being able to adjust when the score doesn't go as expected. With academic coaching, the student gets a solid cheerleader to help them find the tools, strategies and game plays that work best for them.
